Stamps & Coins: Hogwarts

The Harry Potter books by JK Rowling brought owls back into the merchandise spotlight, and Snowy owl goodies has had a strong foothold since. Independent artists and licensed merchants have created several versions of the characters to fit many different kinds of collectibles. My Main Hedwig collection has everything from Lego to pencil toppers. Here, I focus on real or fantasy postage, currency, and collectible coins.

A note on Wizard currency.
The bank of the Wizarding World is Gringotts. It is run by a consortium of goblins that historically stay neutral during the Wizarding Wars. Tge currency is hand struck in three denominations: gold Galleon, silver Sickle, and bronze Knut. Around the edge of each coin was a series of numerals which represented a serial number belonging to the Goblin that cast the coin.

1 Galleon=17 Sickles, 1 Sickle=29 Knuts.

The 2022 currency exchange is:
1 Galleon - $7.35
1 Sickle - $0.46
1 Knut - $0.02

The three denominations of wizarding currency were sometimes represented with the following set of symbols:

Muggle currency can be changed for Wizarding Currency at Universal Orlando (FL, USA), which also has Gringott's Bank Notes in $20 &$10 denominations.

The wizarding currency in the United States of America consisted of the Dragot and Sprink.

The wizarding currency of France was the Bezant‎
